If you are going to a CAW CELL DELHI hearing, don't think only about the complaint that brought you there.
A recent Delhi High Court judgment dated 10 August 2026 gives a very different warning.
In Sachin Ghai & Ors. v. State Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Anr., one matrimonial dispute had already resulted in an FIR under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC.
The husband and his parents were seeking quashing of that FIR on the basis of a settlement.
But there was another FIR.
And its story began at the CAW Cell proceedings themselves.
The judgment records that on 28 March 2022, the parties had come to the CAW Cell in connection with the matrimonial complaint.
After the hearing was over, the wife and her brother alleged that they were beaten and subjected to obscene words by the husband and three relatives.
The matter was reported to the police.
A separate FIR No. 309/2022 at P.S. Seemapuri followed.
Now stop and think about your own CAW Cell Delhi appearance.
You may be angry.
The other side may be angry.
Relatives may be present.
People may be arguing outside the room.
Someone may say something provocative.
Someone may record something on a phone.
Someone may make an allegation about what happened in the corridor or immediately after the hearing.
And suddenly, you are not dealing with only the original CAW Cell complaint.
There may be another police complaint to explain.
That is why I repeatedly tell husbands and families dealing with CAW CELL DELHI, CAW Cell Seemapuri, Nanakpura or other Delhi NCR matrimonial proceedings:
Control the situation around the case as seriously as you control the case itself.
Don't threaten.
Don't abuse.
Don't physically confront anyone.
Don't send angry messages immediately after the hearing.
Don't turn a CAW Cell appearance into a family confrontation.
And don't assume that because you have come to the police or CAW Cell for one matrimonial matter, everything that happens around that visit will automatically be treated as “part of the same case.”
In the Sachin Ghai matter, the Delhi High Court ultimately considered the connected FIRs in the context of a comprehensive settlement and quashed the proceedings. But the important lesson is what happened before that stage: one matrimonial dispute had generated another criminal proceeding connected with an incident alleged to have occurred around the CAW Cell proceedings.
So if you are facing a CAW CELL DELHI complaint, prepare before appearing.
Know what documents you are carrying.
Know what has already been alleged.
Know who should accompany you.
Keep communication controlled.
And after the hearing, leave peacefully.
